The New Beginning

Center of Youth Voluntary Activities "Deineta" together with several national and regional parks of Lithuania has started a new European Voluntary Service project under EU "Youth in Action". This blog is part of a long lasting initiative to give more visibility to the programme and overall promotion to international volunteering. Volunteers participating in this and other other EVS projects join to write the diary, which grows together with their learning, experiences and adventures in Lithuania.

  1. I am a volunteer in Dzūkija national park. First time in Lithuania (I am from Ukraine), first time work in a national park. But this work began to fascinate, from the beginning. We are participate in various excursions, during which we usually do a salad with a wild plants.
We went into the swamp at night and count the Common Cranes, in the first week of my arrival . Because their population had once been at risk. And now it's become a tradition. We are participated in the planting, with foresters.
Sometimes we are working in an ethnographic museum in our park.
Four national parks celebrate 20 years, in this year. We are participate in the celebrations, and have already visited Žemaitija National Park. We took part in a bike ride through the forest, on the anniversary of our park. It was about 30 km.
